The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) can now resume the process of re-evaluating answer sheets of its Class 12 exams after a panel at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has granted its unconditional approval to a new answer sheet checking software that will be used by the exam board.

This approval on 7th June 2026 is a relief for almost 70,433 students who had applied to verify and re-evaluate before midnight deadline 7th June 2026.

Coempt EduTeck's original portal had been identified by the auditors as having several security flaws which could have led to the release of sensitive student information and records. The IIT review panel identified various weaknesses in the existing system, including risks due to any cyberattacks made, and CBSE has moved all student and exam data to infrastructure that is run directly by the board.

Will CBSE Start Releasing Answer Sheets?

To reduce the risk of security threats, a team of experts from IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur has created a fortified portal and added extra precautions. The new system is now hosted on CBSE controlled servers and is equipped with an extra layer of security so that the data is not compromised.

All major security challenges were solved, and a safer digital environment was developed that can cope with large-scale re-evaluation.

CBSE will start releasing answer sheet to trained evaluators across the country as per approval of the portal. Answer scripts will be given secure access to the Examiners for readers to review and verify the marks for each question. CBSE will update the marksheet and inform the students concerned directly if there is any change in their grades after revision.

Those who had applied for re-evaluation will have a smooth-going process as there were no technical snags that hampered the launch of the portal earlier. The verification and re-evaluation window was extended from May 29 to June 1, 2026, but instead, it was postponed to ensure technical soundness.

Steps to Take on Your Re-evaluation

Students who had made the application before the specified date are requested to check the status of re-evaluation from CBSE's official channels.

Students can reach out to CBSE's Tele-Counseling Helpline, 1800 11 8004 or send an email to resultcbse2026@cbseshiksha.in for any queries. If marksheets are re-evaluated and the marks revised, updated marksheets will be issued automatically.
