In Bengaluru, a 13 year old school student has committed suicide. This happened because the student was feeling overburdened by homework and problems with how she was being treated for not completing the homework on time. She was levied a fine of INR 20 for incomplete homework. She was also threatened with being rusticated from school. She had left a handwritten note mentioning the school's treatment towards her and she was emotionally distressed because of the continuous humiliation and harassment. This drove her to commit a suicide, as per her note, allegedly.
After that, parents of the victim have also accused teachers and school staff for repeatedly harassing the child over incomplete homework and have urged the police to take necessary actions against the school authorities and people involved.
The case has been registered at the local police station as a case of unnatural death. Apparently, this is not the first harassment case that has come to notice. The police is looking into the situation to find out how to make sure every student is safe and treated with kindness. Further investigation is underway.
