An Indian-origin entrepreneur, Aman Sanger, is a 25-year-old Cambridge University alumnus who has rapidly established himself as one of the most exciting young entrepreneurs within the global IT ecosystem as one of the co-founders behind Cursor, an artificial intelligent program that assists developers in creating, debugging and expediting the functions of code they have written with the help of artificial intelligence.

Sanger is believed to have played an integral role with his co-founders in developing the product while at MIT, and is now in front of the spotlight after news broke that SpaceX has entered into a $60 billion acquisition deal to acquire Cursor, marking yet another significant milestone for him as a young entrepreneur as well.

$60 Billion SpaceX Deal Explained

In June 2026, there were reports that SpaceX had made a strategic announcement to purchase Anysphere, the parent company of Cursor, an AI-based coding tool for a total price around $60 billion in an all-stock transaction as part of an ongoing effort by SpaceX to implement advanced artificial intelligence technologies into its business.

Cursor was created by Anysphere and has received positive feedback from many developers who appreciate the way it helps to simplify writing, debugging, and optimizing code through machine learning. The acquisition of Cursor is also part of a larger effort by SpaceX to establish itself as an AI-driven organization, with expectations that it will serve to enhance the company’s software and automation tools for development within SpaceX’s entire technology platform thereby providing SpaceX with additional capability to architecturally build complex aerospace and engineering systems.

Early Life and Educational Details

Aman Sanger, at just 25 years old, has risen to prominence as an Indian-born entrepreneur through his role as one of the co-founders of the Cursor AI coding platform and developer tool, which was created out of Anysphere’s innovation incubator. He was educated at MIT where he first met and teamed up with his future co-founders.

While attending MIT, Sanger made an early commitment to exploring artificial intelligence (AI) and software engineering, culminating in the launch of Cursor in early 2022. The first glimmer of interest in coding and an analytical mindset toward problem-solving spurred him to develop AI approaches that would better assist and support developers.

From day one at MIT, the founders started building AI-enabled technologies to optimize and improve the software development life cycle, ultimately leading to the tools used by many developers throughout the world.

How was Cursor Built?

Cursor was created in 2022 when it was formed as a subsidiary of Anysphere by 3 founders: Michael Truell, Sualeh Asif, Arvid Lunnemark. The company was formed to develop an artificial intelligence- (AI) based code-editing tool which will help provide programmers with the tools needed to improve their writing and debugging of software code.

As a result of developers quickly adopting Cursor, it has become one of the fastest-growing software products within AI-assisted coding.
