The Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana was launched in Gujarat in September 2015. This scheme is specially created for students coming from the economically weaker section.
This scheme provides a massive fee reimbursement of up to ₹2 lakhs to students from EWS or general category backgrounds whose families have a total annual income of up to ₹6 lakhs. However, students who have scored above 80% in class 10 and 65% or above in class 12 can apply for this scheme.

The eligibility criteria are as follows:
- Students applying for MYSY must be from Gujarat. They must be from any city or place in Gujarat only. In simple terms, a Gujarat-domiciled person.
- The student has scored above 80% in class 10 and 65% or more in class 12.
- Only for students who are already enrolled in courses such as BE/BTech, MBBS, BDS, Pharmacy, Architecture, MBA, MCA, Nursing, and Diploma in Engineering.
- If the students belong to the SC/ST/OBC category, their higher education should be covered under the Post-Matric Scholarship; only then can they apply for this scheme. MYSY is primarily for general-category students.

The list of documents is as follows:
- Aadhar Card
- Family income certificate up to Rs 6 lakh (issued by a mamlatdar)
- The student's bank account passbook should be linked with the Aadhar card
- 1-2 Passport-size photographs
- Marksheet of class 10 and 12 respectively
- Admission letter or fee receipt from the institution you’re enrolled in
- Domicile/Gujarat residence certificate

Follow the steps below to apply for MYSY:
Step 1: Go to the official website of MYSY and click on login/register.
Step 2: Select ‘Student Registration’. Fill in your credentials, such as your board/university, seat/enrolment number, passing year and mobile number.
Step 3: After filling in your registered mobile number, click on 'Get OTP’. Upload your documents such as Aadhaar Card, income certificate, marksheets, admission letter, and fee receipt in JPG or PDF format.
Step 4: After filling in all the information, review it thoroughly and click on Lock Application.
Step 5: If you want, you can also take a printout of your application. Remember, once your application is locked, no further changes can be made then.
