India Women Beat Bangladesh by 40 Runs in Women’s Asia Cup Semi-Final: Check Match Highlights

India Women have booked their place in the Women’s Asia Cup final after a comprehensive 40-run win over Bangladesh in the semi-final clash at the Dubai International Stadium.

India completely dominated Bangladesh with brilliant all round performance to make it to the final for the 10th consecutive time.

India will now face either Pakistan or Sri Lanka in the title clash at the same venue on Friday.

First Innings

India had a disappointing start to the innings after being invited to bat first. Inform opener Smriti Mandhana departed for just 2 runs. However, Shafali Verma took charge with a brilliant half-century, scoring 64 runs off 40 deliveries with 7 fours and 3 sixes. She was well supported by crucial knocks from Pratika Rawal and Richa Ghosh in the middle order.

India could not fully capitalise on the quick start as finished with 149 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma played crucial quick knocks down the order to help India post a competitive total.

For Bangladesh, Sultana Khatun was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets. Marufa Akter, Nahida Akter and Rabeya Khan also picked up 1 wicket each.

Second Innings

Chasing a challenging target in Dubai, Bangladesh got off to a steady start but could not accelerate at the right time. Shorna Akter tried to stabilise the innings with a 22 run knock but none of the Bangladesh batters were able to cross the 25 run mark in a disappointing batting performance. As a result, Bangladesh were knocked out of this year’s tournament.

For India, the bowlers once again delivered a brilliant performance. Deepti Sharma picked up 3 wickets and was well supported by Nandani Sharma, who took 2 wickets. Shree Charani also bowled an impressive spell, giving away just 14 runs in her 4 overs while picking up 1 wicket and bowling a maiden over. She also recently completed her 50th ODI wicket.
