Sheshnaag-150 Swarm Drone Boosts India’s Unmanned Warfare Capability

Last Updated: Mar 11, 2026, 14:25 IST

The swarm drone Sheshnaag-150 of India is the exciting step in the history of unmanned warfare, integrating the newest AI technologies with the affordable attack to transform the strategies of war.

This 150kg powerhouse created by a Bengaluru company is in trials that have the potential to cripple the enemy defenses in a digital serpent attack.

What Fuels Sheshnaag-150's Rise?

Development of the drone took off in 2025 following Operation Sindoor in which the Indian troops deployed drones such as SkyStriker to deliver precision attacks against terror targets across the border.

This practical necessity required local long-range swarm technology, which boosted Newspace Research and Technologies to develop Sheshnaag-150.

The low-cost drones such as Shahed-136 of Iran have the potential to put a high-value asset out of commission with minimal risk to the pilot, which explains the enthusiasm of the Indian Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign to develop self-reliant systems.

Who Powers This Tech Marvel?

Newspace Research and Technologies, a Bengaluru-based organization, with an IAF veteran,Sameer Joshi as its founder, is the fastest-growing aerospace R&D company in India.

They have provided tether drones to Army and even partnered with HAL on the project such as Combat Air Teaming System (CATS) to develop experience in AI-controlled drone swarms.

Sheshnaag-150 was launched by the startup at World Defence Show 2026 in Riyadh to emphasise the potential on a global level.

Why is Sheshnaag-150 a Swarm Beast?

Visualize 100+ drones maneuvering as a flock of predators: Sheshnaag-150 will travel at 1,000-1,500km and have an endurance time of 5+ hours, armed with a warhead of 25-40kg to saturate enemies radars, airfields or depots.

Its mother code software is able to support AI-shared algorithms of autonomous targeting, tracking and adaptation-minimal human involvement required.

The extra flexibility of highway-launch tests avoids congested satellite signals through future visual navigation.

How Will It Transform India's Defenses?

Sheshnaag-150 fills the gap between tactical drones and pricey missiles, enabling deep strikes that saturate defenses and disrupt logistics—think pre-emptive hits on enemy command centers. Trials as of March 2026 confirm maiden flights and ongoing evaluations, boosting unmanned warfare under iDEX and Make in India.
