UPTET Qualified: Which UP Teacher Recruitments Can You Now Apply For?

UPTET Qualified: The UPTET examination is a state-level teacher eligibility test which is conducted in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is a certificate oriented examination which means that the candidates who qualify the UPTET will be awarded an eligibility certificate. Merely qualifying the examination does not guarantee you a job. The candidates are required to apply for the teacher recruitments announced by the state government from time to time. Once you obtain the UPTET Certificate, you are eligible to apply for the various teaching recruitments as per your educational qualifications. These teaching recruitments involve Primary teaching, Upper Primary teaching, Assistant Teachers, Government-Aided School Teacher, and Special Educator.

What is UPTET?

The UPTET examination is conducted for candidates who wish to teach classes 1 to 8. There are two papers in the UPTET- Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is for the primary level teaching i.e. Class 1 to 5 and Paper 2 is for upper primary level i.e. Class 6 to 8. The candidates can apply for both the papers if they meet the requisite qualifications.

UP Teacher Recruitments After UPTET

Qualifying UPTET is just the first step before getting selected in a recruitment process. The candidates who have qualified the UPTET will have to appear for Super TET, which is a teaching recruitment written examination conducted for direct recruitment as teachers. To apply for Super TET, the pre-requisite qualification is to have a UPTET/ CTET certificate. This examination is conducted to hire assistant teachers in primary and upper primary schools. Here is a list of recruitments that the candidates who have qualified UPTET can apply for:

UP Primary School Teacher Recruitment

To become a Primary Teacher (PRT) in the state of UP, the candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Must have passed class 12th with minimum 50% marks

• Must be having a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed / BTC)

• Must have qualified UPTET/ CTET (Paper 1)

UP Upper Primary School Teacher Recruitment

The upper primary school means teaching classes 6 to 8. To be eligible to become an upper primary school teacher, the candidate must possess the following qualifications:

• Graduation with 50% marks plus B.Ed, or a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed/BTC), or a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)

• Must have qualified UPTET/ CTET (Paper 2)

• Must be between the ages of 21 to 40 years

• Must qualify the Super TET examination

UP Junior-Aided High School Teacher Recruitment

To be qualified for the Junior-Aided High School Teacher/ Assistant Teacher, the candidates must be having the following qualifications:

• Must be having a graduation degree in any stream

• A 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed/BTC), or Graduation with at least 50% marks and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) 

• Must have qualified UPTET/ CTET (Paper 2)

Therefore, it is understood that having the UPTET Certificate does not ensure that you will get a job. You have to apply for various teaching recruitments as per your qualification to get appointed. There will be a Super TET examination for direct recruitment to the post of Assistant Teachers in the schools. The candidates are required to qualify the Super TET along with UPTET to get selected as teachers.
