UPSC CAPF Selection Process 2026: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Central Armed Police Forces exam to recruit candidates for Assistant Commandants (ACs) position. This year UPSC has announced a total of 349 vacancies for the CAPF AC post. Those who are planning to appear for the UPSC CAPF exam must know the selection process for the exam. The candidates are required to clear all the stages separately in order to be considered eligible for appointment. The selection process includes the Written examination, which consists of two papers, followed by Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/ Physical Standards Tests (PST). The candidates who will qualify the written exam as well as the PET/PST will appear for the Interview. This will be followed by a medical standard test. After all these stages, a final merit list will be prepared and the candidates, whose names will appear in the list will be eligible for appointment.

UPSC CAPF AC Selection Process 2026

The UPSC conducts the CAPF exam every year to recruit eligible candidates for Central Armed Police Forces such as CISF, ITBP, BSF, CRPF, SSB, etc. The candidates will be appointed as Assistant Commandants (ACs) in the respective forces. To be appointed as ACs, the candidates need to qualify all the selection stages of the CAPF examination.

UPSC CAPF AC Written Examination 2026

The UPSC CAPF AC first selection stage is the written exam which includes two papers: Paper I and Paper II. Paper I is an objective type paper consisting of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) totalling 250 marks. Paper II is descriptive in nature consisting of question answer format and is of 200 marks.

UPSC CAPF AC Physical Efficiency Test 2026

Those candidates who qualify the CAPF written examination will be eligible to appear for PET/PST, which is the second stage of the selection process. Those candidates who meet the prescribed Physical Standards will be put through the Physical Efficiency Tests.

UPSC CAPF Interview 2026

Those who pass both the first and second stages are invited to an interview. This step is crucial for creating the final merit list and necessitates a self-assured and calm demeanor. The interview, also known as the Personality Test, marks the concluding phase of the selection procedure. The Interview consists of a total of 150 marks and basic qualities such as leadership qualities, communication skills, decision-making ability, and suitability for the role are being assessed.

CAPF AC Medical Standard Test

The Medical Standards Test is designed to verify that applicants satisfy the necessary criteria for vision, hearing, and overall health. Individuals with significant medical issues might be deemed ineligible to continue in the selection process for CAPF officer positions. This assessment involves evaluating eyesight, auditory capabilities, and general physical well-being to confirm adherence to the established standards.
