NCERT Class 9 Textbooks: Maths Book Available Now, Social Science Book on September 30
NCERT has announced the availability of two more Class 9 textbooks for the 2026-27 academic session. The Mathematics book, Ganita Manjari – Part 2, is available from September 21, while Understanding Society: India & Beyond – Part 2 for Social Science will be available from September 30. The announcement comes amid concerns over delayed textbook availability ahead of Class 9 mid-term examinations.

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has announced the availability of two additional textbooks for Class 9 students for the 2026-27 academic session. The latest books are part of the revised curriculum being introduced in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023.
NCERT Class 9 Textbooks: Check Availability Dates
The newly announced textbooks include Ganita Manjari – Part 2, the Class 9 Mathematics textbook, and Understanding Society: India & Beyond – Part 2, the Social Science textbook.
NCERT said Ganita Manjari – Part 2 has been printed and is available for sale from September 21, 2026. The Social Science textbook, Understanding Society: India & Beyond – Part 2, will be available from September 30, 2026.
Students, parents, teachers and schools can purchase the books through NCERT sales counters, the official NCERT website and Amazon.

Revised Books Aligned With NEP 2020
NCERT said the two textbooks have been developed in accordance with the revised curricular approach under NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023. The new textbooks are being introduced as part of the wider transition to the revised school curriculum.
The council has also stated that the latest books are being made available according to the already approved schedule and plan.
Concerns Over Textbook Availability
The announcement comes amid criticism from parents, students and others over delays in making some revised Class 9 textbooks available. The issue has gained attention as schools have already progressed several months into the academic session.
Concerns have become particularly significant with Class 9 mid-term examinations scheduled to begin on September 23. Parents and students have raised questions about access to the Mathematics and Social Science Part 2 textbooks before examinations.
Earlier reports also highlighted concerns from parents in Delhi over the delayed availability of the Part 2 Mathematics and Social Science books.
NCERT Rolling Out New Textbooks in Phases
Class 9 is among the grades undergoing a transition to the revised curriculum, with new textbooks being introduced progressively.
The latest announcement marks another step in NCERT's phased rollout of textbooks based on the NCF-SE 2023. With the Mathematics textbook now available and the Social Science Part 2 book scheduled for release on September 30, students will have access to both revised books through NCERT's authorised sales channels.
