ISRO Launches Indian Space Hackathon for Students: Winners to Secure Internships

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced the Indian Space Hackathon for undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral students from all over India to take part in a problem solving competition on space technology and applications.
The programme is designed to attract young people from colleges & universities to the challenges posed by ISRO and give them a chance to avail of the short term internship programme and enhance the academia-industry interface.
How to Sign Up for ISRO Hackathon?
Hackathon is open to genuine students pursuing UG, PG or PhD programmes in any Indian institution. The teams (or sometimes a person in rare cases as per the rules in the categories) will sign up online on ISRO registration portal or event website.
Participants will be provided with specific problem statements from ISRO operational demand, which can be related to data analysis, understanding of satellite image, software tools, designing algorithms, or development of hardware-software integration in space application. Technical soundness, Innovation, Feasibility, ISRO requirement are criteria for judging the submissions.
Selection process and rewards
Following the initial screening, shortlisted teams proceed to evaluation rounds which can involve virtual presentations as well as live demonstrations. The finalists can be called for an on-site assessment at ISRO centres/partner institutions.
The winners may have the chance to get short-term internships at ISRO and certificates and their solutions may be taken into consideration for further development and/or implementation. The hackathon also offers networking opportunities with ISRO scientists, mentors, and industry/academic collaborators.
