CBSE Extends Session Time Limits on Re-Evaluation Portal Following Student Feedback
CBSE Portal: CBSE optimized its Post-Result Activities portal by extending session time limits following high traffic and a 1.5-million-hit DDoS attack. Supported by an IIT-backed task force, the stabilized platform allows Class 10 and 12 students to securely log in, verify details, and report script discrepancies like missing pages or evaluation blunders.
CBSE Portal: The CBSE has managed to effectively maximize the new Post-Result Activities site by ensuring a more efficient process in case any student needs academic confirmation. In light of a huge number of applications made at once, as well as valuable feedback from students, the CBSE has made sure to increase the time restrictions during which one can access the online form. The first day saw an overload of 14,000 simultaneous users leading to more than 28,000 submissions in a few hours. However, due to a heavy load and the presence of a massive Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack that recorded 1.5 million malicious attempts in just two minutes, there were several timeouts and forced logouts.
Through the extension of the portal’s session timers, CBSE has been able to ease tension among applicants as it gives the latter ample time to verify the information about themselves, enter identification details and bring to light any errors in assessment. This improvement in the infrastructure ensures that the entire process of rechecking/re-evaluation is conducted in a stress-free manner for students of Classes 10 and 12.

The portal is currently supporting nearly 14000 concurrent users, with over 28000 successful submissions as of 10 pm today.
Based on student feedback, further improvements—including extended session time limits—have been…
Cyberattacks and System Optimizations
Re-evaluation portal had to face an enormous amount of pressure during its very first day, considering the approximate number of 14,000 concurrent users and more than 28,000 successfully registered users.
-
However, all processes were highly interrupted because of the attacks of DDoS type, which involved a bombardment of over 1.5 million requests in just two minutes. The great number of users, along with the attack on the website, resulted in numerous problems, such as:
-
The appearance of errors, like "Login Request Expired" and "Verification Failed".
-
Dead screen situations making the users leave the site. Distorted layout and overlap of texts for mobile devices.
-
In order to ease the suffering of students and avoid multiple data submission because of session timeouts, CBSE increased the duration of sessions considerably.
Moreover, the protection of the website was enhanced by means of a special task force that includes security officers from various governmental institutions and specialists from IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur.
What Discrepancies Can Students Report?
Now that the updated portal is stable, the students who have been provided with the scanned copies of the digital answer script will be able to voice their grievances about the On-Screen Marking (OSM) method:
-
Pages Missing: Sheets that are absolutely blank, without page numbers, or don’t have any supplementary sheets or graphs.
-
Inability to Read: Digital copies with extreme blurring and preventing the proper reading of handwriting.
-
Mistakes in Assessment: Cases where the answers weren’t even checked or where the scripts were marked on an entirely different question paper series.
