The West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 are being closely watched as the contest between the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intensifies. Exit polls released after voting ends provide early projections based on voter responses. What were the 2021 West Bengal exit polls predicting?

Exit polls for 2021 indicated that the TMC and the BJP will compete closely in Bengal. According to the poll-of-polls, the BJP was said to secure a solid 121 seats while Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress party was suggested to hold 156 of the state's 292 seats that were up for election. However, the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC ultimately won 215 of the 292 seats that were contested, giving them a landslide victory. With 77 seats, the BJP became the main opposition party in the West Bengal assembly for the first time.
