VB-G RAM G Scheme, Latest Updates: The Centre Government’s new VB-G RAM G Scheme has now shown strong stats since its rollout on July 1, 2026.
According to the government’s latest data, issued today on September 29, it has over 10.88 crore registrations, as per its factsheet.
These registrations are of active workers, and it has generated over 31.69 crore person-days of employment till September 24.
Among this, a total of 61.65% of the workforce is women. Then, around 97.17 lakh works are underway across 2.31 lakh Gram Panchayats.
What About the Payments? According to the report, the average wage stands at ₹283.24 per day. All the 3.76 crore DBT payments have reached workers’ accounts. The Centre has allocated ₹93,841 crore for the scheme in FY 2026-27.
What Is the VB-G RAM G Scheme?
The VB-G RAM G (Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission [Gramin]) is the Centre Government’s new rural employment framework.
The VB-G RAM G scheme replaced the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) from July 1, 2026.
This Act provides a statutory guarantee of 125 days of wage employment every financial year. This scheme is limited to every rural household whose adult members volunteer for unskilled manual work.
Just like the earlier framework, VB-G RAM G provides a connection between employment and the creation of durable rural assets and village development.
This scheme focuses on planned development in parallel with Viksit Gram Panchayat Plans (VGPPs). This helps identify local needs, development gaps and priority works in rural areas.
Key Features of VB-G RAM G
125 Days of Guaranteed Employment: The scheme increases the statutory employment guarantee from 100 days under MGNREGA to 125 days per rural household per financial year.
Four Priority Areas: Works under the scheme focus on four broad areas:

Water security, including groundwater recharge and pond rejuvenation

Core rural infrastructure, including village roads and connectivity

Livelihood infrastructure, such as storage facilities and local marketplaces

Mitigation of extreme weather events and climate-resilient infrastructure
Viksit Gram Panchayat Plans: VGPPs are prepared with the participation of the Gram Sabha and Gram Panchayat. They identify local development needs, existing assets and gaps before prioritising work.
Digital Monitoring: The new framework uses digital systems for implementation and monitoring, including e-KYC, biometric or facial authentication, geo-tagging and electronic Measurement Books (e-MBs).
Direct Benefit Transfer: Wages are transferred directly into workers’ bank accounts through DBT, with the government reporting 3.76 crore such transfers in the first three months.

| Income Tax Assessees | Households with a member who pays income tax may be flagged during automated digital screening. |
| e-KYC Requirement | Adult members seeking work must complete Aadhaar-linked e-KYC or biometric/face authentication. |
| Gender Equality | Men and women are equally eligible, with equal pay for equal work. |
| Marginalised Groups | Special registration drives are conducted for SCs, STs, PVTGs and women-headed households. |
