Who Was Alexander the Great?

Alexander the Great was born with the name Alexander III of Macedon in 356 BCE. In the kingdom of Macedon, he grew up being taught by the famous Greek philosopher Aristotle. He learned military combat and fighting from an early age. Alexander became the king at just 20 when his father passed away in 336 BCE in an assassination.

Why Did Alexander the Great Never Lose a Battle?

Here are some of the key reasons behind why Alexander the Great won every battle he ever fought.

Perfect Military Strategy

Alexander built an exceptional strategy of war long before his troop physically entered the battlefield.

He spent hours and days planning and drawing out all possibilities of actions from the opponent, marking their weak points, style of attacking and creating solutions in the strategy itself.

Strong Cavalry Attack

Cavalry is made up of soldiers on horses. Alexander had one of the strongest cavalry forces in history at a time when cavalry forces weren’t that developed in warfare and soldiers usually fought on their foot alone.

Personal Leadership

Usually the kings and emperors were guarded in the back by the frontline armies in the initial stages of war.

It was only when the war was significantly fought and armies had lost that the king used to come out on the front line and fight himself. Alexander was an exception. He did not stay hidden and protected by his army. Instead he was the one leading his army from the frontline.

Psychological Warfare

Alexander not only used physical power of this military but also his mental strength and psychology tricks to defeat the opposition.

For example, seeing a king fearlessly on the frontline at a time when this wasn’t the norm, made the army men of the opposition feel nervous and less confident when they compared Alexander to their own kings.
