UPSC CMS Exam Pattern 2026

Candidates should analyse the UPSC CMS exam pattern and marking scheme. It offers clear insights into exam mode, question format, number of questions, exam duration, etc. Below is the paper pattern for the UPSC CMS exam in the table below:

  • The written exam is divided into two papers: Paper I & Paper II.

  • The written exam will be an objective type. The question Papers will be set in English only. 

  • Each paper carries 120 questions.

  • The maximum marks will be 250 for each paper.

  • Each Paper will be of two hours' duration.

  • There shall be a negative marking of one-third (0.33) mark for every incorrect answer.
