India Post GDS Selection Process 2026: The Department of Posts, under the Ministry of Communications, has announced 28,740 vacancies for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) posts. These vacancies will be filled for various positions, including Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak, across 23 postal circles in India. Candidates who have passed Class 10 can submit their India Post GDS application form on or before 16 February. The selection of candidates will be based on the marks secured in Class 10. No written examination will be conducted to shortlist candidates for the desired posts.

The selection for India Post GDS Vacancy will be purely merit-based, prepared from candidates’ Class 10 marks. It will be prepared with accuracy upto four decimal places. Notably, there will be no written exam for filling up the vacant posts of Gramin Dak Sevaks.

GDS Selection Process 2026: Preparation of GDS Merit List
The authorities are expected to release the first India Post GDS merit list on 28 February, tentatively. It will be published for each circle separately. How India Post GDS Marks Are Calculated
The officials convert grades into points by multiplying the grade point by 9.5. The final selection is based on the percentage calculated up to four decimal places.
GDS Selection Process 2026 Tie Resolution
In case of a tie, the selection will be determined based on specific tie-breaking criteria. It would be resolved using the following rules, in order:
