In today’s fast-changing world, innovation is gradually emerging to be the foundation for a better and brighter future. With numerous global challenges at hand, engineers and innovative minds are spearheading initiatives and developing ground-breaking solutions to address real-world problems. Armed with their technical acumen to design and optimise systems for minimising environmental impact & maximising efficiency, these young minds are paving the way for a better tomorrow.
To turn this vision into a reality, the young innovative minds with their problem-solving mentality are constantly striving to come up with ideas that are both technically & commercially viable. Sir James Dyson said, "Young design engineers have the ability to develop tangible technologies that can change lives. The James Dyson Award rewards those who have the persistence and tenacity to develop their ideas."
The James Dyson Award is an annual international design competition that challenges young inventors to “design something that solves a problem.” It invites undergraduates and recent graduates of engineering to tackle global issues, ranging from environmental concerns to improving healthcare practices. By participating in the award, participants stand a chance to win up to INR 31 lakhs to bring their innovations to life.
To further support this cause, Jagran Josh brings to you a very interesting and interactive webinar on June 20 on the Jagran Josh YouTube channel. Titled “From Student to Inventor, Start Your Journey As a Young Innovator”, the webinar will feature insights from academic and industry experts, as well as past James Dyson Award winners. They will share their inspiring stories, including how they began their inventor journeys while still students, overcame challenges, and turned their ideas into impactful solutions.
The session will offer practical advice, insights into the innovation process, and tips on leveraging opportunities like the James Dyson Award to kickstart your own path as a young inventor. Our panel includes Pravin Kumar, founder of Dextroware Devices. He is also a winner of the James Dyson Award. The very renowned, Saurabh Nanda, Youth Mentor, and Alex Hudson, an engineer from Dyson who was awarded a patent for designing an innovative purifier, an achievement that also earned him the Contribution of the Year award during his graduation from Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology (DIET) 2018.
We will engage in an interactive session to discuss the avenues for becoming innovators and
developing solutions to real-world problems. Gaurav Kumar, Chief Manager of Jagran Josh, will be acting as the moderator for the discussion.
Each year, the James Dyson Award recognises and celebrates effective engineering solutions and encourage all to innovate and invent that can aid in improving lives. You can
visit http://www.jamesdysonaward.org/ to participate and get a chance to win up to 31 Lakhs. The last date for entry submission is 16 July 2025.
