Key Highlights of CBSE Class 10 Syllabus 2026-27
Below are the major updates and changes introduced by CBSE for the academic year 2026-27:
CBSE to Conduct Two Board Exams from 2026
The CBSE is introducing a new plan for Class 10 exams starting in 2026, which will have two parts. This is being done to make the exams easier for students, lower their stress, and improve how the tests are given. The board will have a full plan ready, with the exams happening in two stages and specific times set for each subject.
Two Exams for CBSE Class 10 Science & Social Science (2026-27)
Students will have the option to choose between the Standard or Advanced level for both Science and Social Science, with both exams conducted on the same day. The Advanced-level exam will include more questions and have a longer duration compared to the Standard-level exam.
CBSE Class 10 Grading System & Exam Structure
The CBSE Class 10 evaluation will use a 9-point grading system. The Board examinations will be for 80 marks, and 20 marks will be for internal assessment. Students must get at least 33% marks in each subject (theory and internal assessment combined) to pass the exam.
Why is CBSE Class 10 Syllabus Important?
- It is like a map for the whole school year. It tells you exactly what topics and chapters you need to study and what you can ignore.
- By knowing what is required, you only focus on the relevant material. This prevents you from wasting your valuable study time on things that will not be in the exam.
- The syllabus includes a marking scheme. This shows you which chapters are worth the most marks, so you know where to spend the most effort.
- With the full list of topics, you can easily create a realistic study timetable. It makes it simple to break down a huge subject into small, easy steps.
- Class 10 concepts are the building blocks for what you will learn in Class 11. Knowing this syllabus well ensures you are ready for more advanced studies.
