Tripura became the third state to reach the ULLAS (Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society) program's milestone of complete literacy on Monday.
According to ANI, the literacy rate in Tripura has increased dramatically from just 20.24 percent in 1961 to 95.6% today. According to the ULLAS method, a state is considered completely literate when its literacy rate exceeds 95%.
What Officials Said?
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, senior representatives from the State Education Department, Government of India, and Ministry of Education, as well as neoliterate students and community members who played a crucial role in this life-changing experience, were present at the declaration ceremony.
CM Saha called the event a historic turning point in Tripura's journey towards full literacy in his speech. For Prime Minister Narendra Modi's goal of creating a Viksit Bharat by 2047, literacy in the nation is crucial. Tripura's designation as the nation's third entirely literate state marks a significant milestone. Now, the Education Department needs to concentrate on raising Tripura's literacy rate even more," Saha stated. The other two states that have achieved complete functional literacy are Goa and Mizoram. Ladakh has been designated as a totally literate Union Territory in addition to these states.
Tripura Reaches a Milestone in Complete Literacy
In line with Mizoram and Goa, Tripura has reached complete literacy, which is a noteworthy milestone. Chief Minister Saha was incredibly proud and praised the Education Department as well as everyone who worked so hard on this campaign. "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas," Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision that emphasizes providing public welfare benefits to all members of society, is what he attributed to this success.
The successful execution of the ULLAS (Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society) program, which is in line with the National Education Policy 2020, is primarily responsible for this accomplishment. Since its 2022 beginnings, ULLAS has strived to deliver core reading, numeracy, and vital life skills to non-literate kids and adults aged 15 and above.
