Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions 2026 (TNEA 2026) may see a delay in counselling as authorities wait for clarity after the National Testing Agency scheduled the NEET exam on June 21. TNEA is being conducted as a fully digital process this year, covering online registration, fee payment, choice filling, seat allotment and final confirmation. The Directorate of Technical Education the functioning under the Higher Education Department, opened applications on May 3 and closed the process on June 5. While more than 3.02 lakh students have registered, 2,45,220 candidates have uploaded their certificates, showing strong participation in the admission process. Read the article for further details.

Revised Counselling Dates Expected Soon

Certificate verification for TNEA 2026 has already started even though the final counselling calendar is yet to be cleared. A senior DOTE official said the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has not approved the engineering counselling schedule so far because of the NEET re-exam planned for 21 June 2026. Despite this uncertainty, the official confirmed that the rank list will be released on June 29 as originally planned. He also explained that the counselling process can begin only after certificate verification is completed. Meanwhile, Higher Education Minister P Viswanathan said the government will decide within a day or two whether the engineering counselling should be postponed. He added that he would hold discussions with the department secretary before announcing the revised counselling timetable. Students and parents are now waiting for the official update which is expected shortly.
