JPSC Exam Pattern 2026 for Prelims
The JPSC Prelims exam comprises two objective-type papers: General Studies Paper-I and General Studies Paper-II. Each paper carries 200 marks, making the total 400 marks. It comprises 100 objective-type questions, each of 2 marks. The medium of the exam will be Hindi and English. The prelims exam serves as a screening test only. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination will be used to shortlist candidates for the JPSC Main Exam. It will not be counted for deciding their final merit. JPSC Exam Pattern 2026 for Mains
The JPSC Mains exam comprises 6 descriptive-type papers. Paper 1 will only be qualifying in nature, and every candidate will have to secure at least 30 marks. JPSC Exam Pattern 2026 for Interview
The selection list for the Interview Test shall be prepared based on the total marks obtained in Papers II to VI, subject to securing minimum qualifying marks. The final merit list will be prepared based on the overall marks obtained in the Main (Written Examination) and Interview Test. The JPSC interview round carries 100 marks.
JPSC Marking Scheme 2026
The JPSC marking scheme is quite straightforward. Candidates should understand the marking scheme to avoid any sort of confusion on the examination day. Below is the marking scheme for the JPSC prelims exam:

There will be no negative marking for wrong answers in the prelims exam.

If a test-taker gives more than one answer, it will be considered a wrong answer even if one of the given answers is correct, and no marks will be awarded.

JPSC Minimum Qualifying Marks
Aspirants who secure minimum qualifying marks of 40% in aggregate shall only be considered while preparing the selection list for the Main exam and merit list for the Interview Test.
