Agniveer Eligibility: The Indian Army has released the notification for the recruitment of Agniveer for Rthe ecruiting Year 2027. Candidates can apply online for the 25000+ posts from 13 February to April 1, 2026, on the official website of Indian Army- joinindianarmy.nic.in
TheIndian Army selects the Agniveers through the Agnipath Scheme. This scheme provides a golden opportunity for India’s youth to experience IN life without having to make a long-term commitment. The selected Agniveer will work in the Indian Army for four years.
Like any other defence service exam, Agniveer will also have to meet certain physical eligibility conditions along with educational qualifications to join the Indian Army. In this article, we will discuss all the Army Agniveer eligibility criteria.
Indian Army Agniveer 2026: Overview
The candidates who join through the Agnipath scheme will get Rs 21,000 in-hand salary during the first year of service, which will increase yearly. Apart from the salary, they will get Rs. 10,04,000 "Seva Nidhi" package at the time of exit after four years. After successfully completing four years of service, 25% of Agniveers will get permanent service based on organisational requirements. What is the Army Agniveer Age Limit?
All the candidates aged between 17.5 years and 22 years are eligible to apply for the Indian Army Agniveer. The candidates born between July 01, 2005, and July 01, 2009 (both dates inclusive) are eligible to apply for Army Agniveer recruitement 2026.
Agniveer Marital Status
Only unmarried male and female candidates will be eligible for enrolment as Agniveer, and Candidates will have to give a certificate of being ‘unmarried’ at the time of enrolment. The candidates shall not be permitted to marry during the defined engagement period of four years.
Army Agniveer Education Qualifications
The education qualification of the agniveer depends on the category for which they are applying. Refer to the table given below for detailed information about categories-wise educational qualifications:

OR Passed two years vocational courses with non-vocational subjects viz Physics and Mathematics from Education Boards recognized by Central/State/UT Government with 50% in aggregate. Higher Education (Vocational Degree)
OR 10th/Matric pass with 50% in aggregate and minimum 40% in English, Maths and Science with two years of Technical Training from ITI or two/three years Diploma in certain streams i.e:-

The weight of the candidate should be as per the medical policy for the given height. The chest expansion should be at least 05 cm for all candidates.

Relaxation In Physical Standards
Indian Army gives some relaxation in height, chest, and weight for some categories. A candidate that comes from these categories can avail of the relaxation in all three measurements.
