Points to Consider
- Category Differences: Cutoff scores for OBC-NCL and EWS are usually 10% lower than the General category. For SC, ST, and PwD, the scores are comparatively lower, usually dropping by 30% to 50%.
- Result Impact: Now that the results are declared, the difficulty level of the 2026 paper is factored into these expected ranges. A harder paper generally leads to a lower cutoff.
- Selection Process: Some branches at IIT BHU may also require a written test or interview along with the GATE score.
Important Steps After Results
- Register for COAP 2026: This is the most important step. All admission offers from IITs are made through the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP).
- Apply to IIT BHU: Don't forget to fill out the separate M.Tech application form on the official IIT BHU Graduate Admission portal.
- Download Scorecard: Official GATE scorecards will be available for download from March 27, 2026.
Important Dates 2026
- March 19: GATE 2026 Results Declared.
- March 20: IIT BHU M.Tech Applications Open.
- April 13: Last date to apply for IIT BHU.
- May: COAP Round 1 offers begin.
