Prospective students who have secured admission into the 11th grade under the Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) are now able to access and download the detailed syllabus in PDF format in this article. General Instructions: 

  1. There will be an Annual Examination based on the entire syllabus. 
  2. The Annual Examination will be of 40 marks. 
  3. Practical Examination** will be of 40 marks. 
  4. Internal Assessment* will be of 20 marks.

Unit I: COMPUTER SYSTEM
  • Introduction to computer: Central Processing Unit (CPU), I/O devices, Evolution of computer, data and information, types of data, functional components of a computer system and their interconnections
  • Computer Memory: Units of memory, types of memory– primary, cache and secondary.
  • Microprocessor: Evolution, features of microprocessor.  
  • Software: purpose and types: System and application software, language translators, device drivers.
  • Classification of Programming languages: High level language, machine language.  
  • Operating System (OS):-Need for operating system, brief introduction to functions of Operating System

Unit II: ENCODING SCHEMES AND NUMBER SYSTEM

  • Encoding schemes: American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII), UNICODE
  • Number system: Decimal, Binary, Octal and Hexadecimal number system and converting a number from a number system to another (excluding its fractional part)

Unit III: EMERGING TRENDS

  • Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning, Natural Language Processing, Robotics, Big data, Internet of Things(IoT), Sensors, Smart cities, Cloud Computing, Grid Computing, Block-chain technology.

Unit IV: PROBLEM SOLVING

Introduction to Problem Solving: Problem solving cycle analyzing a problem, designing algorithm, implementation through coding, testing the solution.Algorithm: what is an algorithm Need of algorithms in problem solving, representation of algorithm using flowchartProgramming: concept of a program, need for writing programs.

Unit V: GETTING STARTED WITH PYTHON

  • Basics of Python Programming: Introduction to python, Features of Python, working with Python interpreter in interactive mode and script mode, structure of a program, identifiers, keywords, constants, variables, types of operators, precedence of operators, data types, statements, expressions, evaluation and comments, input and output statements, data type conversion, debugging

FLOW OF CONTROL  

  • Control Structures: Sequence, Selection (decision) and repetition (iteration).

Function: Introduction to Function, need of functions, user defined functions, built-in functions.

Unit VI: SOCIETAL IMPACTS

  • Digital footprints: Introduction to Digital footprint, Etiquettes for Net surfing and for communicating through social medias,, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), cyber-crime and cyber laws, hacking, phishing, cyber bullying, Indian IT Act, preventing cyber crime
  • Impact on health: Awareness about health concerns related to usage of technology like effect on eyesight, physiological issues.
