JNU: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has achieved a historic milestone by completing its most expansive faculty recruitment and promotion drive to date, as announced in a recent official statement. Under this "mission mode" initiative, the university processed and approved 246 faculty promotions under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS), effectively addressing a significant backlog of applications that had been pending for years. This strategic move serves as a direct response to recent administrative criticisms concerning promotion delays and transparency. The data reveals a comprehensive elevation across academic ranks, including the promotion of 75 professors, 34 associate professors, and a combined total of 137 assistant professors across stages two and three.

Beyond internal improvements, JNU filled 219 additional teaching positions between February 2022 and February 2026, demonstrating a strong commitment to institutional expansion. Over 400 recruiting interviews were conducted during this period of high activity to make sure that suitable applicants from a variety of backgrounds filled academic openings. Out of the 246 promotions, a sizable percentage went to academics from SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwD categories, reflecting the university's changing social context.

The effort has been especially praised for its inclusivity. The administration has worked to boost academic performance and professional morale by expediting the promotion process and giving faculty members regular updates on the progress of their applications. This unprecedented endeavor not only fortifies JNU's core faculty but also reinforces its position as a leading international research institution.
