Who is Mahua Moitra?
Former investment banker and politician Mahua Moitra has made a name for herself in Indian politics with her daring remarks and thoughts. Prior to being elected as a Trinamool Congress candidate for the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency in 2019, Moitra was an MLA from Karimpur. Despite being removed from Parliament in 2023 due to a controversy, she won once more in 2024, marking a powerful return to Parliament.
In addition to playing important roles in the party, Moitra is well-known for her statement about the "early signs of fascism," which went viral. She was previously married to Danish banker Lars Brorson. Later on, she dated Jai Anant Dehadrai, an advocate.

Mahua Moitra graduated with honors from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, USA, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Mathematics. She had a solid financial basis in her early career as an investment banker before entering politics, which is reflected in her academic and professional background.
Mahua Moitra Personal Life
Moitra was born in 1974 in the Cachar district of Assam. She grew up in a family of tea planters and was pretty well off. She earned a degree in economics and mathematics from a college in Massachusetts, USA. Moitra jumped right into politics after quitting her corporate job and moving back home. She joined the Congress for the first time in 2008, when she was assigned to spearhead Rahul Gandhi's booth-level campaign, "aam aadmi ka sipahi (common man's soldier)." After two years, Moitra joined the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC), and got elected for the Parliament on the TMC's ticket.
As per the media sources, TMC Leader and two-time MP Mahua Moitra tied the knot with BJD leader Pinaki Misra. The wedding took place on May 30 in a very private and intimate ceremony. There has been no official announcement made yet. Both party leaders are quite tight-lipped about this event.
Who is Pinaki Misra?
The Indian political scenario is nothing new for Pinaki Misra. He originally entered Parliament from Puri on a Congress ticket in 1996 and is now a senior attorney in the Supreme Court. Misra, a law graduate from Delhi University and a graduate of Delhi's esteemed St. Stephen's College, changed political parties and joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). In 2009, he was elected to the Lok Sabha again from the same seat.
