International Day of Yoga is celebrated every June 21, following the UN’s adoption in December 2014 after India’s proposal, to promote the ancient practice’s physical, mental, and spiritual benefits.

The day has grown into a global movement since the inaugural event in 2015, marked by two Guinness World Records in New Delhi. Each year brings a theme: from “Yoga for Harmony and Peace” (2015) and “Yoga for Health” (2016) to “Yoga for Self and Society” (2024).

In 2025, the 11th International Day carries the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, emphasising the deep link between personal wellness and planetary wellbeing.

This year’s celebrations feature ten signature events—including the flagship Yoga Sangam, Yoga Mahakumbh, Harit Yoga, and Yoga Connect—spanning over 100,000 locations across India.

Plus, global gatherings, from UN‑led events in New York to massive sessions in Visakhapatnam and Kurukshetra, are also included. In this article, we’ll explore each year’s theme and key events from 2015 through 2025.
