Indian Coast Guard Selection Process

The Indian Coast Guard selection process is carried out in four stages. Candidates must clear each stage to move ahead in the recruitment journey:

Stage 1 Written Exam:
All candidates must appear for a written test. It is the first step of the selection process.

Stage 2 Physical Test and Document Verification:
Candidates who qualify in Stage 1 will be invited to Stage 2. This includes the Physical Fitness Test (qualifying in nature), Document Verification, Medical Screening, and Re-assessment for candidates with inconsistent performance.

Stage 3 Final Medicals and Merit List:
Candidates who pass Stage 2 will be considered for Stage 3. Based on performance in the first two stages, an all-India merit list is created. Shortlisted candidates will receive an e-admit card for a final medical exam at INS Chilka. It depends on available vacancies and the qualifying ratio set by ICG.

Stage 4 Training at INS Chilka:
Only candidates who clear the final medical round and are ranked as per the merit list will be provisionally selected for training at INS Chilka.
