How Close Is the U.S. to Ending the War?
In a statement delivered to the American public, President Donald Trump stated that our armed forces have achieved “swift, decisive and overwhelming success,” and that core goals of our operation in Iran were “on the verge of being completed.”
While claiming that the Iranian military capability had been degraded significantly, with their air force and navy being “essentially destroyed,” no timeline on when U.S. forces would leave had been given.
With this statement, President Trump’s focus is on continuing to assert progress being made on the battlefield while the administration considers final stages of the operations.
Claims About Iran’s Capabilities and Threat
President Trump characterized Iran's threat as having been reduced from years past, and goes on record as stating that Iran's military capacity has been greatly diminished and refers to Iran's naval and air forces as having been virtually demolished.
President Trump also reiterated that Iran, at this time, is no longer a significant risk to the United States. This is indicative of other administration officials who have stated that Operation Epic Fury has weakened Tehran's capacity to utilize military powers outside Iran.
However, Iran continues to launch missiles into other countries, including Israel, and has denied that they requested the United States to cease military operations against Iran.
