The Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Scheme aims to eliminate economic barriers and create a "guarantee of confidence" for every daughter in the national capital that often forces students to drop out of school. The online applications starting April 1, 2026.

Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Scheme: Key Objectives

The Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Scheme has several core goals:

  • Educational Continuity: To ensure girls complete not just school, but also graduation or professional diplomas.

  • Financial Independence: To provide a substantial corpus over  ₹1 Lakh when the girl reaches adulthood.

  • Ending Child Marriage: The maturity benefit is strictly tied to the girl remaining unmarried until age 18 and completing her education.

  • Digital Transparency: By moving to a fully digital DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) system, the government aims to eliminate the "paperwork jams" seen in the previous Ladli Scheme.

Financial Benefits & Payment Structure of the Scheme: 

The government deposits a total of ₹56,000 in a girl's Aadhaar-linked account in phased installments with accrued interest which will be managed via SBI Life, this grows to over ₹1,00,000 by the time she turns 21.

Milestone-Based Installments:

  1. At Birth: ₹11,000

  2. Admission to Class 1: ₹5,000

  3. Admission to Class 6: ₹5,000

  4. Admission to Class 9: ₹5,000

  5. Passing Class 10: ₹5,000

  6. Admission to Class 12: ₹5,000

  7. Graduation/Diploma Phases: ₹20,000

Note: The maturity amount can be withdrawn once the girl turns 21 and has completed her graduation or diploma. If she fails to complete her education, the funds revert to the government.

Eligibility Criteria:

To apply for the Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Scheme/Yojana, the following conditions must be met:

  • Residency: The family must have lived in Delhi for at least the last 3 years.

  • Birth: The girl child must have been born in Delhi.

  • Income Limit: The annual family income must not exceed ₹1.20 Lakh.

  • Family Size: The benefit is limited to a maximum of two daughters per household.

  • Education: The girl must be enrolled in a recognized school/college. (Higher education can be pursued anywhere in India if the institution is UGC-recognized)

Documents Required for Application

The online applications starting April 1, 2026 before applying online, ensure you have scanned copies of the following:

  • Birth Certificate of the girl child.

  • Aadhaar Card of the girl and both parents.

  • Address Proof (Voter ID, Electricity Bill, or Ration Card of Delhi).

  • Income Certificate (stating annual income below ₹1.20 Lakh).

  • Bank Passbook (Aadhaar-linked account).

  • Passport Size Photo of the applicant.

  • School Admission/Marksheets (for educational milestone claims).

How to Apply for Lakhpati Bitiya Scheme Online

The scheme is set to be fully operational via a digital portal starting April 1, 2026.

  1. Visit the Official Portal: Go to the Delhi e-District portal or the dedicated Lakhpati Bitiya website (to be live soon).

  2. Registration: Click on 'New User' and register using the parent's Aadhaar and mobile number.

  3. Fill the Form: Select Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana from the list of services and fill in the girl's details.

  4. Upload Documents: Attach the required certificates in the prescribed format (usually PDF/JPG).

  5. Verification: Once submitted, a tracking ID will be generated. The Department of Women and Child Development will verify the details digitally.

  6. Direct Transfer: Upon approval, the first installment will be credited to the linked account.
