The Punjab Government's e-Registry and e-Jamabandi systems are not just e-services; they represent the changing administrative culture as well. These changes have made the revenue department more accountable and efficient in its work.
Since everything is tracked through digital platforms, the possibilities of bribes, bottlenecks, and arbitrary decisions are virtually non-existent. Tampering with the record, and even the timeline, is impossible because of the presence of QR codes, digital signatures, and the automatic timeline.
These services, according to government estimates, are helping the people save almost ₹ 100 crore each year, money which was otherwise lost through additional costs, middlemen, and time. This, in turn, has helped not only enhance public trust but also improve economic efficiency in the state.
Going forward, the aim is that these digital records will be interlinked with banking systems, judicial systems, and welfare programs in a more integrated digital environment.
The vision of the Chief Minister is quite clear: "Governance should not remain on paper, it should be visible on the mobile screen.”
e-Registry and e-Jamabandi have brought Punjab much closer to a situation where transparency in governance, speedy services, and empowerment are realities.
