Kimi Antonelli made a name for himself by setting a Formula One record during the qualifying round at this weekend's Chinese Grand Prix.
This new record demonstrates the rapid growth of Antonelli as a highly talented rookie driver and his ability to race with experience and poise alongside many of Formula One's more experienced drivers.
This consists of having the ability to post an outstanding lap time under immense pressure, which is a testament to how well Mercedes believes in Antonelli and his development towards becoming the next top star in motorsport, especially considering how little time he has spent racing in groups.
This record will certainly be a huge highlight for Antonelli and Mercedes throughout the duration of the Chinese Grand Prix.

Which F1 Record did Kimi Antonelli Break?

Kimi Antonelli has set a new record as the youngest driver to achieve pole position in Formula One by breaking an almost 15-year-old record for the youngest driver to do so in qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix.
A very strong lap from the teenage rookie ensured that he would start from the front of the grid after achieving the fastest time in the session.
As a result, he now holds the record for being the youngest driver in Formula One to have been awarded pole position, previously held by Sebastian Vettel at the age of 21, when he took his first pole position in 2008 at the Italian Grand Prix.
This achievement shows that Antonelli is on the rise in the sport and could be one of Formula One's brightest stars in the future.
