Miroslav Klose remains the king of World Cup goal scoring. Klose transformed into a lethal, unstoppable force whenever he wore the German kit. Klose scored in four consecutive tournaments 2002 (5 goals), 2006 (5 goals), 2010 (4 goals) and 2014 (2 goals). He cemented his legacy by scoring his 16th goal during Germany's unforgettable 7-1 semi-final victory over Brazil in 2014 by breaking a record on Brazilian soil before lifting the trophy.

He won the Golden Boot that year, scoring twice in the final against Germany to secure Brazil's fifth World Cup. Just Fontaine of France achieved something very unique in 1958 that will almost certainly never be replicated in modern football. He scored 13 goals in a single World Cup tournament. Fontaine struck terror into opposing defenses in Sweden, netting a hat-trick against Paraguay and four goals in the third-place play-off against West Germany.

Sandor Kocsis was the spearhead of Hungary’s famous Magical Magyars team of the 1954 tournament. Renowned for his extraordinary aerial ability earning him the nickname the Golden Head Kocsis scored 11 goals one match in 1954 in just five matches during that single tournament including two hat-tricks in the group stages.
